Square. Some device. It looks Like a theatre, but who knows. Cultural codes of the whole world, as in a supermarket, are whispering before the show has begun. Like a suitcase of an experienced traveler, plastered with cultural symbols of all nations and times, a modern person tastes everything in a search of his identity.
Hey, who wants to plunge in a game ? The carnival mystery begins. One turn of the mystery wheel turns an everyday world into a provocative reality, one has never seen before, into a bright fantastic experiment. A new turn of the wheel - and an ordinary person changes his usual appearance and becomes a grotesque creature, embodying an unexpected festive element.
Trickster characters control the festive machine, and it digests everyday life, turning it into a carnival mystery. Traditions of different nations and cultures - from medieval Europe to New Guinea - are included in this fantastic carnival element.
Spectators participate in the festive experiment, which may lead to an unexpected ending.
A theatre of carnival culture, masks, grotesque and buffonade was founded in 1993 in Saint-Petersburg. It looks for the inspiration in the authentic Baroque dances, historical art of fighting and Medieval miniatures, and actually in everything. During their interactive performances everyone gets a chance to become a King, a Knight, a Monster or just an intrigued spectator.
